Week 6 2014 NFL Predictions

9 Oct

WEEK 6

(BYES: KANSAS CITY, NEW ORLEANS)

Thursday, October 9

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans — 8:25 p.m.

Andrew – Indianapolis. While Houston has managed to win against some of the… well…. less adequate… teams, I don’t see them being able to take down some of the league’s more elite teams. I imagine it’ll be close, but I think the Colts can steal one on the road here.

Greg – Houston. I like the way the Texans play at home, so I’ll go with them. I think deep down both of these teams know that they aren’t very good, but they will at least make for a semi interesting game tonight.

Genesis – Colts. When you really break it down, a texan is just nothing without a horse to ride. Colts are an essential part to the image of texan, so without a colt, there is just no texan.

Sunday, October 12

Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Atlanta. I don’t like this game or this pick, so I’m going with the home team.

Greg – Atlanta. The Falcons are once again off to a shaky start, but Cutler has regressed a bit back to his interception throwing days. I’ll take the Falcons in a shoot out.

Genesis – Bears. They are a far more aggressive animal. Although falcons have the advantage of the sky, bears are just bigger in size and much more aggressive.

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – New England. I feel like this is the time of year when things start to fall apart for the Bills who are 6-10 for four of the past five years (the only off year was 2010 when they finished 4-12). Not that things can’t change.. but wow, that’s surprisingly consistent.

Greg – New England. The Patriots are 25-3 against Buffalo since Belichick became the head coach in 2000.

Genesis – Patriots. Although a buffalo is a large beast that has the ability to charge a human, the patriots have the advantage of firepower and freedom

Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Cincinnati. Home team pick once again. I probably would have picked the Panthers if this was in NC, but outside of that have to go with the Bengals.

Greg – Cincinnati. This should be an interesting game — basically it comes down to how much Cam can do. he did it all last week, but can he do it twice?

Genesis – Bengals. This was a very tough call. Both cats are predatory and aggressive when provoked. Although panthers are much more elusive, I believe that the sheer power of a bengal tiger will overpower any efforts against other cats.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Pittsburgh. It was definitely a close game up in Pittsburgh the first time around, but I’d be surprised if the Steelers allow the Browns to get back into the game like that.

Greg – Cleveland. This is the year of Cleveland! This might be one of the most lopsided rivalries in the NFL, but I’ll go with the “hot hand” and the Browns.

Genesis – Steelers. The steelworkers were an essential part of the United States’ booming economy in the past and displayed grit, hard work, and determination. Serving as one of the backbones of the American culture makes them more favorable.

Green Bay Packers at Miami Dolphins — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Green Bay. I was hesitant to pick Green Bay at first, memories from the season opener still haunt me (and probably them too), but I think they should be able to continue their high scoring, winning ways on the road in Miami.

Greg – Green Bay. I think this will be interesting for the Packers players being in Miami heat, but I still take them to win easily here.

Genesis – Packers. There is scientific proof that porpoises cannot eat dairy-based products. If a dolphin consumes cheese, it will die.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Detroit. Not much going on for the Vikings right now…

Greg – Detroit. I am inclined to pick the Vikings just because the Lions are so inconsistent. But with all the media mess swirling around the Vikings and an injured QB, I’ll take the Lions.

Genesis – Lions. Although the norse warriors are famed for their bravery and might, I believe the king of the jungle would have the advantage over them.

Denver Broncos at New York Jets — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Denver. Yea, sorry Jets.

Greg – Denver. Doesn’t get much better for the Jets.

Genesis – Broncos. A jet runs out of fuel, while the majestic bronco can run and maneuver through any type of terrain. I believe this type of adaptability gives them an advantage.

Baltimore Ravens at Tampa Bay Buccaneers — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Tampa Bay. I guess I can understand why Coach Lovie Smith didn’t go with Mike Glennon out of the gate, but he does some good things with the football. I’m hoping it pays off for them here.

Greg – Baltimore. Close game, but Baltimore squeaks it out.

Genesis – Ravens. Although pirates have the advantage of ships, swords, and firepower, they have the disadvantage of being superstitious. Ravens are known for bringing bad omens or dark news. I believe this will greatly affect the scalawags of the sea.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans — 1:00 p.m.

Andrew – Tennessee. Rough!

Greg – Tennessee. I really don’t care.

Genesis – Titans. These great powerful titans ruled the earth before the gods of Mount Olympus fought back. If a group of gods barely managed to keep these titans at bay, what can a jungle cat do to them?

San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders — 4:05 p.m.

Andrew – San Diego. Philip Rivers is having quite the year, and the Raiders… are not.

Greg – San Diego. The Raiders will continue their slump into the depths. I think this will be a close game, but the Raiders just do not have enough.

Genesis – Chargers. Again, although pirates have the advantage of weapons, they are no match for electricity. A single bolt of lighting can destroy a ship’s mast, rendering these raiders useless

Washington Honorable Native American Ancestors at Arizona Cardinals — 4:25 p.m.

Andrew – Arizona. The Redskins *can* win this game, but going across the country, playing a tough but injured defense, and against an inconsistant QB (whichever one shows up), usually means that Washington will give up easy plays and the other team will break or set some kind of record.

Greg – Arizona. The Cards suffered their first loss last week, which leads me to believe they’ll be pumped up for a Kirk Cousins offense. It’s a game both teams could win, but I think some turnovers will once again doom Washington.

Genesis – Native Americans. Native Americans are known for being in tune with nature. Although the cardinals can take flight, I believe that the Native American’s ability to hunt will serve as their advantage.

Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks — 4:25 p.m.

Andrew – Seattle. This could be fun, but it’s also one of those games when the Cowboys have momentum and then they totally bottom out.

Greg – Seattle. I am rooting for someone…ANYONE to beat Seattle at home, please! But I don’t think it will be this Cowboy team. Extremely close game though.

Genesis – Seahawks. Cowboys are limited to how much they can shoot (generally they carry what is referred to as ‘six shooters’). Seahawks, however, have the power of flight and agility and are much more aggressive defending their homes.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles * — 8:30 p.m.

Andrew – Philadelphia. If the Eagles get a quick start, they should be able to keep the game out of Eli’s sweaty palms. The problem becomes if they do a couple quick 3 and outs, then the Giants could have a chance in this one. If the Giants get up early, I don’t think the Eagles have a chance. It’s a toss up, but going with the home team.

Greg – Philadelphia. Toss up game for me, going with the home team.

Genesis – Eagles. Giants, although known for their size, are also known for their lack of speed. I believe the eagle can take advantage of this and perform quick strikes that will eventually slay the giant.
