November 7th – Thursday Night Football (8:25 PM ET)
Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings
Andrew – Washington Redskins. The NFL delivers with another exciting Thursday night game. They really know how to sell their vision for two Thursday, night games – “Guys, all the shitty teams play on Thursday nights and we reserve Sunday/Monday games for the good teams.” Wait a second, I bet that’s it! Also, Redskins can definitely drop the ball on this one… the only good things the Vikings have going for them are their ground game, and their special teams… which just so happen to the be the things the Redskins struggle with (defensively). I am just hoping that this is a different Redskins team that won’t lose the games that they should win (ignore first games of the season).
Greg – Washington. I think this game will be very close, because again, both teams can’t actually prepare for the game because it’s THURSDAY NIGHT. Awful. Another game to skip!
Genesis – Redskins. I haven’t been watching/keeping up with the Vikings because they are gawd awful this season. From what I’ve gathered, their secondary is a mess, so Garcon, Moss, and Reed can really take advantage of that (assuming RG3 doesn’t overthrow them). If I wasn’t a ‘Skins fan, this would be another terrible game on a Thursday night – so let’s just hope AP doesn’t run all over the place and move on to next week.
November 10th – Early Afternoon Games (1:00 PM ET)
Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons
Andrew – Seattle Seahawks. Don’t pay attention to Atlanta enough to fully articulate the reasons behind their collapse. The offense one is the loss of their main receivers and running back, but still… they really can’t get it together.
Greg – Seattle. so I think this will be a close game, simply because the Seahawks are traveling across country away from their safety zone that is their stadium. That said, the Seahawks will still find a way to win this game, but I think it’s a low scoring affair.
Genesis – Seahawks. BATTLE OF THE BIRDS. CaaCaw! Falcons are super underwhelming this season and it makes me happy, especially because Matty Rice was a huge douche last season when they were good. Plus, the fact that Wilson has more rushing yards than the Falcons in general shows how dynamic the Seahawks can be and how one dimensional the Falcons are.
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
Andrew – Detroit Lions. Divisional match ups are always a tough pick. You generally have to assume the home team will win it, but with Jay Cutler’s status yet to be determined (as I write this), I have to go with the Lions.
Greg – Chicago. Going out on a limb here to say that even with or without Cutler back in the lineup, the Bears win this close game.
Genesis – Lions. After that performance by Calvin Johnson, I can’t think of any good reason why they Lions won’t win. Just throw it to Megatron. He’ll do something with it.
The rest of the picks after the jump!
Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers 1:00 PM
Andrew – Philadelphia Eagles. What a rollercoaster of a season for the Eagles this year. I don’t know what to expect. Part of me wants to say that given the success they had last week, they’ll come out flat this week. I think the Packers will play inspired football on the defense to help offset some of the pressure on Seneca Wallace, but if he struggles too much, I think the Eagles can steal a road win here.
Greg – Philadelphia. Well the Eagles certainly caught a big break with Rodgers going down. It will be super awkward for Seneca Wallace to start a game for a team that has has 4 quarterbacks start basically since football started. On the other side, the Eagles may have found a stable quarterback who could take them far. Will be a tough game for Philly to win, but I think they take it.
Genesis – Eagles. If Aaron Rodgers was playing, then I’d say Packers all the way – but with the combination of him being sidelined and Nick Foles going HAM last week (wtf), Eagles should be able to do pull out the win here. Packers pass defense isn’t that great and if the offense clicks for Philly the way it did last week, then look out.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans 1:00 PM
Andrew – Tennessee Titans. I’d feel bad for Jaguars fans if they hadn’t already subjected themselves to shitty Jacksonville, FL. Just when you think Justin Blackmon is going to step in and help your team…. he gets suspended again! Oh well… what could have been a winnable game, just ends up with… well why am I even writing this… I don’t think I’ve ever met a jaguars fan in my life.
Greg – Tennessee. Don’t care.
Genesis – Titans.Guess which one is Jacksonville.
St. Louis Rams at Indianapolis Colts 1:00 PM
Andrew – Indianapolis Colts. Straight forward, winnable game at home for the Colts.
Greg – Indianapolis. Colts should take this game pretty easy.
Genesis – Colts. Nothing else to say really.
Oakland Raiders at New York Giants 1:00 PM
Andrew – Oakland Raiders. I don’t know, neither of these teams really make sense, but I’m going for what would traditionally be an upset pick?
Greg – New York Giants. You would think coming off a bye week, the Giants SHOULD be able to take care of business at home against the Raiders — but this is the Giants of 2013, so who knows. But I gotta go with them this week against a team that typically doesn’t play well on the road.
Genesis – Raiders. Pryor gives the Raiders a fighting chance. Giants defense isn’t as great as it once was and I can see Pryor running all over the place. Another 99 yard rushing TD for him? Maybe. Prob not.
Buffalo Bills at Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00 PM
Andrew – Buffalo Bills. EJ Manuel comes back and brings life to the Bills struggling Bills.
Greg – Pittsburgh. The Steelers did some pretty good things against the Patriots last week — except play defense that is. However, against the Bills, you don’t have to do too much! I think the Steelers figure some things out, and get the victory.
Genesis – Steelers. Even though the Ben Stillers aren’t as good as they once were, they’re definitely still better than the Bills. Plus, coming back from his injury, I can’t see EJ Manuel doing too much that’ll push his team forward.
Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens
Andrew – Cincinnati Bengals. Everything I think/understand points to a close, low scoring game which means given my recent success in predicting how Andy Dalton will play, he’ll probably throw for like 500 yards or something crazy. I think the Bengals win a squeaker.
Greg – Cincinnati. I don’t know who can predict the Ravens offense right now, they can’t seem to do anything right. It’s becoming more and more difficult to predict these division games because neither team actually wants to prove if they are any good or not.
Genesis – Ravens. Why not, it’s different than the other two picks. Flacco still looks like a muppet.
November 10th – Late Afternoon Games (4:00 PM ET)
Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers
Andrew – San Francisco 49ers. This could actually be a pretty exciting game. Good defenses, with plenty of offensive potential. I’ll go with the 49ers here as the all around better team at home (and Carolina going from coast to coast), but hat tip to the Panthers for making me think about it.
Greg – San Francisco. Oo this will be a fun game! I LIKE! VERY NICE! Pretty much exactly what Andrew said — and in addition, the only way the Panthers win this game is a 17-13 low scoring affair.
Genesis – 49ers. This is the week that Cam gets stopped. He’s been having monster games for the past could of weeks. BUT DAT BUTT GET STOPPED HERE.
Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
Andrew – Denver Broncos. Not that I don’t think the Chargers will keep it interesting for a while, but the Broncos are such a solid second half team that any good things the Chargers thought they had going for them, will be evaporated by the end of the 3rd quarter.
Greg – Denver. Coming off a huge loss against the Redskins, the Chargers get to go home, phew — oh no it’s Denver coming in. Look out folks, fireworks game! No defense! Let’s do this! Broncos win by 13.
Genesis – Broncos. After a loss against the Skins, I can’t see the Chargers bouncing back from the high powered Broncos offense. They’ll prob score another 48 points, so everyone can keep riding Peyton’s bawls.
Houston Texans at Arizona Cardinals
Andrew – Arizona Cardinals. I want to pick the Texans, because I enjoyed watching Case Keenum (and the points I received from Andre Johnson’s baller game in one of my fantasy football leagues), but the Texans are total mess over all. Just don’t trust them to get it working across the board to win this road game.
Greg – Arizona. Coming off the bye week, the Cardinals basically have no idea which quarterback they were preparing for. Now it’s a guy who can bootleg and launch a deep ball to Andre Johnson. Cover Andre, win the game Cardinals.
Genesis – Texans. The new Texans QB’s got some game and a name of which I do not care to look up. But he was great in the last game. If it wasn’t for Gary Kubiak (hope he’s ok now) going down because of that stroke, the Texans would’ve won.
November 11th – Sunday Night Game (8:30 PM ET)
Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints 8:30 PM
Andrew – New Orleans Saints. Not that the Cowboys can’t win this game, but I feel like it’s the Saints game to lose. At home, generally better offense, increasingly better defense/confidence in defense. I put this game on the Saints to lose.
Greg – New Orleans. What happened in New York you idiots. How do you lose that game? That said, they get to go back home and feel nice and cozy.
Genesis – Saints. Cowboys streak stops here. Saints are a better version of the Cowboys and they have less divas (I’M LOOKIN AT YOU FEZ). Saints pull out a win – a close win – but a win.
November 11th – Monday Night Game (8:30 PM ET)
Miami Dolphins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Andrew – Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I don’t care at all about this game. These teams are so stupid.
Greg – Tampa Bay. The only reason I’m picking them is because there is so much drama around the Dolphins, tough not to get caught up in it as a player. Bucs pull out a win.
Genesis – Dolphins? I guess? Idk.
•Bye: Cleveland Browns, Kansas City, New England Patriots, New York Jets
