Week 9 NFL Predictions!

1 Nov

Thursday, November 1st
Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers 8:20 PM

Andrew – San Diego. Once again… I hate picking the Chargers, but the Chargers have to win this one, or they’re all fired. Unfortunately, Jamaal Charles could be the harbinger of doom.

Greg – San Diego. I mean the Chargers SHOULD win this game. They’re coming back home where they are much better, but this game could still go either way. That’s when you know it’s bad in Charger-town.

Sunday, November 4th
Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals 1:00 PM

Andrew – Denver. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say this guy Peyton Manning is gonna shape up to be a preeeettttyyy good quarterback. Get it? Because he’s like a rookie with a new team and people talked about him falling off and his arm strength and now he’s back to just dominating defenses….. Anyway, while the Broncos love to flounder in the first half, no one seems to be able to stop them in the second half, so until Peyton stops knowing everything about football, I’m going Broncos.

Greg – Denver. So apparently Peyton still has it. What will be interesting is the wear and tear of the long season as we get further in. Around week 11 or 12 I expect him to start breaking down a bit, so it’s pretty important that Denver wins the early games to solidify their playoff push. The Bengals have been in a bit of a rut, I expect them to come out of it this week, but Denver wins in another shoot out.

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns 1:00 PM

Andrew – Baltimore. Cleveland can definitely win this game by keeping the game close and running the ball (a lot), especially now that Baltimore’s run defense has fallen off. I am however, going with Baltimore, fresh off a bye, and with their own elite run game I imagine this to be a low scoring affair with Baltimore winning by a few.

Greg – Baltimore. Cleveland has proven they can at least play with the big boys, but Baltimore has proven that too. Coming off the bye week, I expect Baltimore to win this one easily.

Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers 1:00 PM

Andrew – Green Bay. Ah not much to say here, Green Bay at home… don’t really see the Cardinals surprising them with anything they haven’t seen and easily handled in the past.

Greg – Green Bay. The Cardinals are just a mess right now. Nothing can go their way. Maybe this is the year Larry Fitzgerald finally leaves? Packers roll.

Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans 1:00 PM

Andrew – Chicago. The Bears defense proved for the umpteenth time last week that no matter how poorly the offense plays, they will continue to bail out the team. It’s actually pretty impressive and reminiscent of the Bear’s 2006-07 Superbowl run. Luckily for the Bears and Jay Cutler, the Titans have been pretty weak on defense, so he should find a little more success than he did against the Panthers (although, it’s not like they are an elite defense either).

Greg – Chicago. Pretty sure the Bears are the best team under the radar. No one seems to be talking about them (maybe because they always collapse later in the season?). Either way, this is another easy win for the Bears. I think Jay Cutler comes out strong — I mean anything is better than last week.

Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts 1:00 PM

Andrew – Miami. Surprising match up of the week, am I right?  Colts are pretty solid at home so this definitely will not be a gimme for Miami (not that Miami is a team deserving of any gimmies yet), but I have a feeling the Dolphins run game will help keep the ball out of Andrew Luck’s hands. I’m picturing this to be a close and pretty exciting game.

Greg – Indianapolis. I’m going with the home team here. I think this game will be pretty boring for the first three quarters, but close enough to make the 4th interesting. I have the Colts riding the emotional high from last week to a win here.

The rest of the picks after the jump!

Carolina Panthers at Washington Redskins 1:00 PM

Andrew – Washington. I definitely think the Panthers can and may very well win this game, however, I’m picking the Redskins simply because they all know that they absolutely have to win this game.  If not… this season suddenly spirals out of control (and we all know what Dan Synder does when that happens).

Greg – Carolina. You know…last week I picked the Redskins thinking that they could do some things. If the Redskins hadn’t dropped 20 passes, who knows, maybe they could have. But let’s not forget everyone, they’re the Redskins. While the Panthers have been struggling lately, what better team for Cam to get his groove back then against this defense? Panic enters DC after this loss.

Detroit Lions at Jacksonville Jaguars 1:00 PM

Andrew – Detroit. Detroit’s defensive front seven have an uncanny ability to get into the back field, and quickly at that. It hasn’t resulted in a ton of sacks, but it does wreak some havoc on quarterbacks. While I still have the nagging feeling that this game will be really really close, I have a hard time thinking that the Lions will lose this battle.

Greg – Detroit. I literally have nothing to say about Jacksonville every week. Sorry guys.

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans 1:00 PM

Andrew – Houston. The rumor mill has it that Mario Williams is fired up to face his former team, and his wrist is a 100% and blah blah blah…. Until Mario Williams proves it on the football field (this year), I am not considering him to be the elite player he was for Houston. Also, I have no doubt that the Texans will scheme around him and keep him off balance.

Greg – Houston. Ok so Buffalo could very well stop the run with their front 4. Good. Now you need to stop the pass, which the Bills certainly cannot do. The Texans offense is too difficult to stop, especially at home.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Oakland Raiders 4:05 PM

Andrew – Tampa Bay. I normally don’t pick the team that travels across the country, however, the Raiders are too inconsistent (at home and away) and the Bucs have made some serious improvements the past couple of games. If Josh Freeman continues his three touchdown streak in addition to Martin running like crazy (and they should have success against a weak Raiders defense), then Tampa Bay should have this game in the bag.

Greg – Oakland. Carson Palmer is quietly having a pretty decent year. While Tampa has a long 10 days to prep for this game, I still think the Raiders win this one.

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks 4:05 PM

Andrew – Seattle. I don’t particularly like this pick because I feel like the Vikings are a more complete team, but the Seahawks have made it clear that they were very difficult to beat at home, so I have to go with them.

Greg – Minnesota. Battle of the northern surprises! Who would’ve thought there’d be a lot riding on this game. Both teams need to keep up their strong play as the season comes to the second half. While the Seahawks are extremely difficult to beat at home, I like the Vikings to come in on a long week to steal a huge win.

Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Giants 4:25 PM

Andrew – New York Giants. I’m nervous because the Giants might be distracted by all the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, but I also think they’ll reaaallly be trying to win at home for their fans, so it’s a mixed bag with a lot of emotions.

Greg – New York Giants. Giants will get up for this game, and the Steelers are a facade for a good team this year. Too many injuries. Eli is also coming off a horrible game, so I expect him to pick it up also.

Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons 8:20 PM

Andrew – Atlanta. Cowboys love to fall apart, and like I said, until a team stops both Julio Jones and Roddy White, I’m picking the Falcons (although I will say that the Cowboy’s corners are pretty good, so the odds go up slightly for them).

Greg – Atlanta. Man, this team. I still don’t trust them and predict they’ll lose their first playoff game, but they are so difficult to stop right now. They need to get Michael Turner involved a bit more, which I think they will this week. Dallas is on a downward spiral to the depths of the NFC East..yet still get night games?

Monday, November 5th
Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints 8:30 PM

Andrew – New Orleans. I’m trying to stay as far away from picking the Eagles as possible. Michael Vick can’t stop turning over the ball, and the win, Vick does stop turning the ball over, and they lose… what’s a boy to do? I’m going with the home team here, also the team that I know won’t turn it over 4 times.

Greg – New Orleans. I really wanted to pick Philly, but I just can’t seem to do it. I think Vick will have a great game, but even then, you’re playing Drew Brees and the Saints. I’m looking for a shoot out in this one. Saints win a close one.

·Bye: St. Louis, New England, NY Jets, San Francisco
