Monday Music Madness: “Save the World” – Swedish House Mafia & “Don’t Wanna Go Home” – Jason Derülo

6 Jun

Summer is here! Well sort of. Although it might not be officially Summer yet, the songs that are coming out make it sound like Summer is in full swing. Here are some songs that you might’ve missed over the past couple of weeks!

Save the World (feat. John Martin) – Swedish House Mafia

House music and Europe?? Who would’ve thunk it!? Just kidding, everyone thunk it because, let’s face it, when you think of bass thumping electro music, you can’t help but think of a sweaty night club in Europe. Swedish House Mafia would definitely be played in said sweaty clubs. This group of Swedish DJ’s, yes, they’re actually Swedish, have been producing beats since late 2008. They’ve been associated with such artists as Tinie Tempah and Pharrell. So check out “Save the World” and get this party started right:

Don’t Wanna Go Home – Jason Derülo

A new track from Jaasseennn Derruullloooah dropped a couple of weeks back and I like it only because they sample from the amazing 90’s song, ‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S and based the hook off of the hilariously entertaining ‘Day-O (Banana Boat)’ song by Harry Belafonte. Let me just say there is nothing original about the song. But it’s that stupid beat the gets me going every time. So despite being lame and sampling everything, this song is going into the Summer party mix. Boogie on down everyone and check out “Don’t Wanna Go Home”:

Where Dem Girls At (feat. Nicki Minaj & Flo Rida) – David Guetta

This song has been out for a while and I’ve been a big fan of it. David Guetta always finds a way to produce a catchy song that I’ll listen to constantly. Here, he gets the pan handle rapper himself, Flo Rida, to lay vocals down on the verse and the hook, but it’s the pink princess, Nicki Minaj, that steals the spotlight in this song. Catchy beat? Check. Catchy hook? Check. Catchy verses? Check. Random sounds by Nicki Minaj over a beat? Check check check. This song screams Summer and I scream for ice cream. Check out “Where Dem Girls At” below:

Like this song? Be on the lookout for Guetta’s fifth untitled album dropping sometime 2011.

Give Me Everything (feat. Afrojack, Ne-Yo, & Nayer) – Pitbull

Here we go again. Mr. 305, Pitbull, has created another club banger/party song. Getting some vocal help from Ne-Yo and Nayer, over a beat produced by Afrojack, Pitbulls gives us a song that’s prefect for those hot night at a club or party music for your outdoor parties. This song moves away from Pitbull’s normal “Latin/Cuban” sounding songs and opts for more of a club feel. Guess he got the memo. This song was actually pretty topical considering the Rapture was supposed to happen that one day it didn’t. When asked if he had a little too much to drink tonight, Pitbull responded with “YEEEEEAAAAOOOHHH”. So check out “Give Me Everything”:

Like this song? Be sure to get Pitbull’s upcoming album, Planet Pit, dropping June 17, 2011.
