Top 25 Christmas Songs of All Time

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Okay, think back to a couple of weeks ago. It’s Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. What do you do? You turn on the radio station that plays Christmas music of course! Now, I know there are a bunch of you out there that cheat like I do and sneak in a Christmas song or two (or five) when it’s no where close to Christmastime. Selecting the top 25 was a little difficult considering there are many versions of the same songs. But these songs fill you with so much cheer and happiness that you just can’t help but sing along, no matter what version or time of the year it is. Let’s take a look at the Top 25 Christmas Songs of All Time.

25 – Feliz Navidad – José Feliciano

Nobody would know how to say “Merry Christmas” in Spanish if it wasn’t for this song.

24 – You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch – Thurl Ravenscroft

Sure, this song is about a jerk that stole Christmas from a community, but you have to admit, evil has never sounded so good.

23 – Christmas Time is Here – Vince Guaraldi

It sounds like a ridiculously sad Christmas song, but you can’t help but eventually smile when you listen to this song.

22 – Frosty the Snowman – Jimmy Durante

Look at Frosty go! To tell you the truth, I’ve never made a good snowman. I want to make a good snowman one day. Who’s going to help?

21 – Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays – N*SYNC

Oh yeah. This song is catchy and you know it. Don’t pretend like you weren’t blasting this song and pretending to be flying in a sleigh throwing down presents. Just me? Well then…

20 – I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus – Jackson 5

Oh – kids say the darndest things, don’t they?! If you actually listen to the lyrics, there’s actually like two verses. Yet this is still one of those Christmas classics.

19 – Blue Christmas – Elvis Presley

Although this is supposed to be a sad song, it is possibly one of the most fun songs to sing. Just try it. I guarantee you’ll be cracking up when someone attempts to do the “OOoOoOOOoO” part.

18 – Run Rudolph Run – Chuck Berry

I can’t help but think of a family running through the airport when this song comes on. I wonder how many songs from  Home Alone will be on this list?

17 – What Christmas Means to Me – Hanson

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That’s right, I chose Hanson’s version over Stevie Wonder’s. There’s no doubt that Stevie Wonder’s version is a classic, but Hanson’s version seems much more happier. Plus the added “Oh’s” during the chorus is awesome.

16 – I’ll Be Home for Christmas – Frank Sinatra

There’s just something about listening to Frank Sinatra sing that makes me think of a snowy day in New York City.

15 – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – Mariah Carey

I feel like not a lot of people know this song, but let me tell you this: it’s amazing. Plus, it’s in Home Alone 2, one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. What more could you ask for?

14 – Holly Jolly Christmas – Burl Ives

Burl Ives reminds me of Santa. Imagining Santa singing this to me makes me happy.

13 – Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer – Gene Autry

I know everyone does the random echo parts throughout the song. But, do you want to really have fun with this song? Replace everything with “Like a lightbulb” – it works just the same.

12 – Christmas Eve/Sarajevo – 12/24 – Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Epic much? I’ve never seen TSO in concert before but I can only imagine what this song would be like live.

11 – Baby It’s Cold Outside – Dean Martin

I like this song particularly because of this scene. Dean Martin sure did not want her to leave…what a charming creeper.

10 – Santa Baby – Madonna

She’s very convincing. Santa probably could not wait to get to her house.

9 – Last Christmas – Wham!

This song is sooo catchy, plus, check out the incredible video.

8 – Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee

Every time this song comes on, I can’t help but think of Kevin McCallister dancing with strings attached to him.

7 – Believe – Josh Groban

This song is magical. I mean, there’s seriously no other way to describe it. It’s one of those songs where you just can’t help but immediately feel like a kid who believes in Christmas as soon as your hear the bells in the beginning.

6 – It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas – Bing Crosby

This is one of those songs that definitely gets you in the Christmas spirit. This has to be one of the first songs played the day after Thanksgiving. Truly a “club banger.” Great job, Bing.

5- The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole

With the simplest of titles, this song is extraordinary. It really puts you in the Christmas mood. Plus, you can never go wrong with Nat King Cole.

4 – Let it Snow – Dean Martin

This song makes you feel like you can sing along to it and make it snow yourself. Let’s see if it works on Christmas Eve.

3 (Tied) – White Christmas – The Drifters

You can blame Home Alone for the tie.

3 (Tied) – White Christmas – Michael Bublé

I really want a white Christmas this year. But if I don’t get one, I’ll settle for this song.

1 – All I Want for Christmas is You – Mariah Carey

Oh come on, like you didn’t see this one coming. Don’t lie – you know you get super giddy when this song comes on the radio or on your computer. It’s catchy and it’s one of those songs that you don’t mind when it gets stuck in your head.

If you haven’t heard this song yet, get ready to have your minds blown. And yes, this song is legit.
