Your Thursday Mixtape: Vol VII

24 Jun

A new band has emerged from a sailboat off the East coast – they call themselves Tennis. A young married couple from Denver decided to buy a sailboat, learn to sail, and then along the way wrote about their experiences. The album is coming out with so much buzz, you should jump on the wagon quick. You can read their entire sail blog here.  [Limited Buy Here]

Tennis – Marathon

We got new Passion Pit ladies and gentlemen. From a Levi’s music session comes this new softer track. Head over to their site for a free download of the track.

Passion Pit – Tonight, Tonight

Keep reading for even more mp3’s!

David Sitek is going to be releasing a solo album as “Maximum Balloon” and if this track is any indication of what the new album will be like in August, I’m eager to hear more! [Buy Here] (Thanks to Jeff for the heads up)

Maximum Balloon – Tiger (feat. aku)

Well Enrique is BACK ladies and gentlemen. Not much to say about this song except that it is catchy and you will probably say it around dinner time tonight when you’re eating. I LIKE IT! [Buy Here]

Enrique Iglesias feat Pitbull – I Like it

Say hello to Geographer, your next big band. Quick story how he got into the music industry: After a series of deaths in the family, Michael Deni left NJ for SanFran – there he found a synth and guitar. Using both, he turned his feelings into his songs. Interested now? [Buy Here]

Geographer – Kites

The Tallest Man on Earth, hailing from Sweden, who just won ‘best new music award’ from Pitchfork for his new album, is a solo project that is so easy to listen to. With hints of the old (and better) Kings of Leon, this song just screams to be used in a classic travel video or road trip. So go out and make one for us. Head over to AudioMuffin for a great post on these guys. [Buy Here]

Tallest Man on Earth – King of Spain

This song was only brought to my attention from the owl movie (Legends of the Guardian) – it worked so well in that trailer I had to find it. Turns out 30 Seconds to Mars sings it.

30 Seconds To Mars – Kings And Queens

I know what you’re about to say, Owl City Greg? Why did you put them on here? Well I will always be biased to The Postal Service, so when this cd came around I listened to a few songs. This might be the most “Postal Service-y” track on the album. And I mean, Dubai is on the cover of his album! [Buy Here]

Owl City – The Tip of the Iceberg

With no bio, information, or just about anything but music tracks (just that they’re from Vancouver), Teen Daze have created a following through the blog world and poised to release their album on July 23rd. [Buy Here]

Teen Daze – Shine On You Crazy White Cap

Hey remember the band Nappy Roots? Well they are back with a new album! While this track is nothing amazing, it’s not bad and how I could I not post a Nappy Roots track?? [Buy Here]

Nappy Roots – Back Home

Mash Up of the WeekMajor Lazer has redone La Roux‘s entire album HERE

Major Lazer v La Roux – Cover My Eyes (Costra Nostra Edit)

Throwback Jam of the Week

Oasis – The Masterplan

Wow that was a big mixtape! 13 tracks! Hope you enjoy them – give me feedback as to what genre/bands you’d like to hear more from, and don’t forget: Please support these artists!
