Your Next Big Band: The Temper Trap

6 Jan

This week’s new band is Temper Trap, however before I get into them, I would like to go back and point out that I have known of this band/been listening to them since June, 2009. Don’t believe me? Check out the image over there. This was going to be filed under a “Wait, you’re telling us about…” , but I decided they really are going to be the next big band after hearing them on a few new commercials (Chrysler and Rhapsody).

The band formed in Australia (of course), and ventured out into London where they performed at sold out shows in 2008, and then making their big splash at South by Southwest in March 2009. During this time period, BBC named them to their soundtrack for 2009.

More after the jump (including an mp3!)

They have one album, which was released in June of 2009, titled Conditions. They have made their claim to fame with the extremely catchy song “Sweet Disposition” – which you will want to hear again and again. You can listen to it below:

They JUST released their new single on January 4 – titled “Fader” – which is just as catchy (a little more upbeat). Needless to say – this band is sure to go far, I suggest you go support them and purchase their album. In the meantime, listen to those two songs, and add “Sweet Disposition” to your iPods. And then try to tell me why so many amazing bands come out of Australia?!
